SAHK Tang Siu King Memorial Workshop* commenced service in 1986 and has been offering wheelchair repair and rehabilitation product fabrication services for wheelchair users. In 1988, a dedicated adaptive seating production team was formed to provide comprehensive rehabilitation seating production service for those in need in the community. In 1999, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust) provided funding to support recurrent costs of the Workshop and was renamed to Jockey Club Rehabilitation Seating Service Centre.
In 2019, the Centre received funding again from the Trust for service revamping. While retaining its existing rehabilitation seating production service, as a result of the funding, the Centre launched the Jockey Club Rehabilitation Products Rental Centre, which is Hong Kong’s first one-stop centre of its kind including professional assessment services. At the same time, the Jockey Club Mobile Rehabilitation Seating Service was also launched to proactively promote healthy sitting posture among members of the public by way of an outreach vehicle.
By means of comprehensive professional works, we hope to provide people in need in the community, such as children, elders and persons with disabilities, etc., quality services including prescription, design and fabrication of rehabilitation seats, adaptive products and rental services. We also commit ourselves in public and community educations.
*In 1986, the Association received a generous donation from the Kwan Family and established Hong Kong’s first wheelchair repair and rehabilitation products service unit in Wo Che Estate, Sha Tin, and was named Tang Siu King Memorial Workshop. The Workshop was later relocated to Fo Tan. The Association would like to express its deep gratitude to the Kwan Family, in memory of Ms TANG Siu King, Ms TANG Siu Chun, Mr. KWAN Man Kwong and Mrs. WONG Wai Ying for their benevolent support.
